What is Bill 23: An Act to Amend the Public Utilities Act?

Bill 23 is a private member’s bill, meaning it has been brought forward by a Member of the Legislative Assembly instead of the Government. It was raised by MLA Nunakput.

The bill prohibits a public utility from disconnecting a residential customer’s electricity during the coldest months of the year. It also prohibits a public utility from installing a load limited on a residential customer due to non-payment of a bill, and allows a customer to enter into a payment plan.

To provide feedback on this bill, please contact the Committee Clerk (contact information below).

The public can attend the meeting in person or alternatively watch on the Assembly’s website, Facebook, YouTube or Twitter.
