The Standing Committee on Social Development will hold a public virtual meeting on their Statutory Review of the Child and Family Services Act on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. The Committee wants to hear perspectives of members of the public from across the Northwest Territories about how Child and Family Services can be improved in the Northwest Territories.
Members of the public can participate in two ways: either by contacting the Committee Clerk at Jennifer_Franki-Smith@ntassembly.ca to obtain the zoom meeting link to speak to committee, or by writing a letter containing their concerns and e-mailing it to the Committee Clerk. The public can also access updates on the Committee’s review by accessing the webpage ntassembly.ca/CFS.
The Committee is undertaking this work because they are required by law to do a review of the Child and Family Services Act every five years. This review in particular is examining what prevention activities exist within Child and Family Services, and whether or not other activities are needed.
While the meeting is open to the public via Zoom, it will not be broadcast due to the sensitive nature of the topics for discussion.
