Virtual Public Meeting on Indigenous Recruitment and Retention in the Public Service

Date:
Tuesday, January 25, 2022 - 19:00 to 21:00

The Standing Committee on Government Operations, chaired by Rylund Johnson, will hold a virtual public meeting regarding Indigenous recruitment and retention in the public service on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. The Committee wants to hear perspectives of members of the public from across the Northwest Territories on the topic.

Members of the public can participate in two ways: either by contacting the Committee Clerk at committees@ntassembly.ca to obtain the zoom meeting link to speak to the MLAs, or by writing a letter containing their concerns and e-mailing it to the Committee Clerk. If you need interpretation for this meeting, please indicate this information to the Committee Clerk at Committees@ntassembly.ca by January 19 for guaranteed assistance.

The Committee is undertaking this work because identifying the systemic barriers to increasing the representation of Indigenous people in the public service, and reviewing Governent of the Northwest Territories human resources practices and policies, is the Committee’s priority for the remainder of the 19th Assembly. After gathering public input, the Committee will write a set of recommendations to the Government of the Northwest Territories by way of a report in the House during session.

The meeting will be broadcast live and can be viewed by tuning in to ntassembly.ca or by watching on the Assembly’s Facebook, YouTube or Twitter channels. The proceedings will also air on the LATV network.
