Sahtu Electoral District:
Paulie Chinna was elected to the 19th Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories in the 2019 general election. Ms. Chinna represents the electoral district of Sahtu, and is the first woman to be elected in her riding. Ms. Chinna was elected by her fellow MLAs to become part of Cabinet on October 24, 2019. Her Cabinet portfolios include: Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs, Minister of Housing, and Minister Responsible for Homelessness.
Paulie Chinna presently resides in Norman Wells. Ms. Chinna is a proud Sahtu Beneficiary and member of the K’asho Got’ıne District.
Ms. Chinna has worked as a public servant for the Government of the Northwest Territories and has gained a broad perspective of Northern issues from working in 3 of the 5 regions of the Northwest Territories.
Ms. Chinna has been a member of The Board of Governors for Aurora College, served 3 years on the Sahtu Business Development Council, and the Fort Good Hope Co-operative LTD. Ms. Chinna has also attended the Cody Institute of St. Francis Xavier University where she completed a program focused on Indigenous women in Leadership.
